Carlos

On September 9, Carlos was walking across a bridge in Providence, looking up at the sky for a wishing star.

It was something he did most nights.

That night, he found PVD-022.

Carlos told us he was homeless and trying to figure out where he would sleep that night. He was walking, looking up, and holding on to a small bit of hope that maybe something good was still out there waiting for him.

He didn’t know about PVD Bear or the idea behind the coin. He just happened to come across it.

There’s something about that moment that has stayed with us. We put a coin out into the world, never knowing who might find it or what they might be going through when they do. We certainly didn’t expect our first story to be Carlos’s.

We’re grateful he took the time to share a little of his life with us. We hope he stays safe, finds somewhere secure to sleep, and eventually finds a permanent place to call home.
