Liam with PVD-029 on the Powder Mill Trail

Liam was out on the Powder Mill Trail in Smithfield today looking for one of the glass apples from Smithfield’s Apple Trails.

Instead, he found PVD-029.

He spotted the coin near a rock wall, and judging by that smile, he was pretty excited about it.

We love that PVD Bear can be a little extra part of an adventure that already brings families out into the woods searching for something special. The Apple Trails are a great Smithfield tradition, and we were happy to add a few coins to the hunt.

A big thank you to Appleland Orchards for sponsoring this year’s Apple Trails and to Gather Glass for creating the beautiful hand-blown glass apples.

And to Rhode Island Audubon—thank you for being such an incredible organization and for sharing your beautiful trails with everyone taking part in the hunt. We’re pretty sure the trails belong to the wildlife first, so if you happen to see an actual bear out there, please let him have the coin.

A special thank you to Tanna Rose, Liam’s acquaintance, for sharing this fantastic photo with us. Liam is officially one of the youngest PVD Bear finders—and definitely one of the cutest.

The Valley Breeze recently published a great piece about this year’s Apple Trails. Read all about the hunt here.

Liam—thanks for finding PVD-029. 🐻
